Our Journey of Caring

Our fundamental purpose is providing loving care for each of our ‘special people’ on an annual visit to Lourdes. We arrange to travel by coach/ambulance by hiring ‘the jumbulance’ from Across Scotland and book a suitable hotel in Lourdes. Many people are unable to fly due to their disabilities or complex needs but with the jumbulance and the stretcher beds and medical equipment on board we can “make the impossible possible” for them.

We establish a group of carers, which involves visiting each individual prior to leaving on the trip and assessing their specific needs. Our team consists of 14 able-bodied men and women, including a doctor, priest, male and female nurses and 10 VIP’s (Very Important People!). Many of our helpers travel with us every year.

Organizing Our Events

Of course, the focus of our efforts is the annual visit to Lourdes in May. However, we are busy with any number of events and functions during the year. We often participate in various charity walks and social events. Our participation in the London St Patrick’s Parade in March is a mainstay of our calendar. The Anerley Across Golf tournament has become the stuff of legend! And the end of year dinner & dance is always well attended and celebrated. A huge thank you to our dedicated team of organizers and volunteers.

Our Fundraising

We are truly blessed in having a determined and focussed team who bring their expertise to our fundraising efforts. In truth, the fundraising process never stops. Through our activities throughout the year, we are able to do what we do. Our funding comes through a number of sources such as donations, raffles, social events, our golf ‘classic’. the 200 club to name but a few. Without our dedicated team of fundraisers and volunteers, we would be unable to achieve all that we do. And a huge thank you to our sponsors, affiliate associations and friends who contribute so much with generous hearts.
